BMW M4 is a sporty modification of BMW models of the regular 4-series. Concept version of the model was presented on August 16, 2013, in 2014 the model entered serial production, and replaced such a coupe and convertible of the third series. The car has a fairly high level of comfort, stylish and sporty design, which is achieved through the presence of exterior elements inherent in sports cars, improved components of the chassis and braking system and more extensive technical and functional equipment. The car is available in coupe (version F82), and convertible (version F83). Cabriolet has a higher fuel consumption compared to the coupe, due to the higher weight: as for the roof of the car, it is rigid three-sectional, unfolds and folds with the help of electric drive functioning within 20 seconds.
As for the other differences of the sports coupe from the usual 4-Series cars, the M-version became 3.5 centimeters longer: largely due to the presence of a sporty aerodynamic dodger with an outwardly aggressive stylish look and large air intakes that affect the effective cooling of the car’s powertrain.
In 2015, the “charged” sports car BMW M4 GTS F82 was released: an improved sports “M”, produced in a limited edition of 700 cars. The features of these cars include a two-tone paint scheme: Sapphire Black metallic, Mineral Grey metallic, Alpine White and Frozen Dark Grey Metallic, completely redesigned dodger, the presence of a carbon fiber hood lid with a stylish air collector mounted on it, retractable front splitter, which allows you to change the downforce, the presence of aluminum mounts for the rear spoiler, which fix the part to the carbon fiber trunk lid, rear diffuser made of carbon fiber – this element is also an active element of the body of the car. The auto was equipped with fully LED lights, titanium cooling system and unique light-alloy nineteen-inch wheels.
The interior also received a number of changes: the car lost the rear sofa, the seats received a different shape and were made of carbon fiber: as the main trim material is used alcantara: for example, it is trimmed sports steering wheel of the car.
In 2017, the large-series BMW M4 F82 coupe was subjected to a raystyling: as a result of the improvements, the interior comfort, driving and power characteristics of the car, its technical and electronic equipment were improved. The car received an updated range of powertrains.
Appearance
As for the exterior of the car, it received an aggressive and stylish appearance, which emphasizes the sporty character of the BMW M4 coupe. Aggression of the car is emphasized by updated head optics: it received a narrower and elongated elliptical shape, stylish, emphasizing the continuity of generations falshardiator grille, and stylish bumper with notches, smooth lines and large sections of the air intake. The hood of the car with its signature notches has a sloping shape, which has a positive effect on reducing the aerodynamic drag of the car: the high angle of inclination of the windshield and the low drop-shaped roof also contribute to this.
The side part of the car corresponds to the design of the front. Signature stampings, sporty low aerodynamic dodgers, widened wheel arches with placed inside 18-inch (standard), and 19-inch alloy wheels (optional) on profile rubber. The drop-shaped, elegant rearview mirrors and the smooth arc of the low roof, the neat decorative fin on the roof, the horizontal window line: features that give away the sporty character of the car when viewed from the side.
The rear part of the car has a formidable, aggressive and sporty design. The neat bumper with aerodynamic dodger has a large number of notches and stiffening ribs, air intake niches and a neat notch designed for fixing the license plate. On the trunk lid there is an antifender, which reduces aerodynamic resistance of the car and increases downforce. The rear of the car is equipped with classic LED taillights.
As for the overall dimensions of the BMW M4, the length of the car is 467 centimeters, width – 187 cm. Height of the car is 138 centimeters, wheelbase of the model is 280 centimeters. The car has a low ground clearance: only 12 centimeters. In view of this, it is recommended to operate the car only in good road conditions.
Interior
As for the design of the car interior, it is quite spectacular and comfortable. The high ergonomics of the arrangement of car control elements is especially emphasized. A number of details of the interior of the BMW M4 interior, unambiguously hint at the sporty character of the model. In addition to aesthetics, the interior of the car boasts excellent build quality and ergonomic arrangement of the controls of the car and its additional functions.

Natural leather. As elements of decor inside the car there are inserts from aluminum and natural wood. As for the driver and front passenger seats, they are equipped with excellent lateral support, high backrest, a lot of electronic adjustments, heating, ventilation and built-in massage system. Large massive dashboard, clear borders of tabloids, steering wheel of sports type – elements of salon interior, which stand out against the background of similar elements in the interior of the usual BMW 4 series.

Engine
As for the powertrain installed on the BMW M4 F82, it uses a three-liter six-cylinder motor with a power of 441 horsepower. To the design features of the power plant include the presence of a double supercharger. The power unit works together with a manual six-speed gearbox. Optionally, the model can be equipped with a seven-range robotized transmission M DCT, which has a double clutch.
As for the dynamic characteristics of the car, the coupe equipped with “mechanics” accelerates to “hundred” in 4.3 seconds, and with a “robot” in 4.1 seconds. The maximum speed of the car is limited by the action of electronics to 250 kilometers per hour, but motorists have the opportunity to optionally order a version of the car with a maximum speed of 280 kilometers per hour.
Electronics
BMW M4 has received excellent technical and electronic equipment: the design of the sports car provides the presence of a number of intelligent systems that allow to increase the comfort of the car, as well as to increase active and passive safety for the driver and passengers. The car, for example, is equipped with parking sensors, rearview camera, multifunctional on-board computer, light and rain sensors, heated mirrors, windows, seats and steering wheel, full electric package, adaptive headlights, standard navigation system, as well as multifunctional multimedia.
Features
The car BMW M4 literally abounds with a large number of technical features of the design, thanks to which the car has acquired properties that favorably distinguish it from ordinary “fours”. Thus, some body elements of the car body were made of carbon fiber: roof, underhood struts, partially trunk lid. These measures allowed to reduce the weight of the car to one and a half tons, as well as to achieve the distribution of equal load on the axles, which had a positive impact on the handling of the car.
The suspension and steering have been reconfigured for sporty driving, and the rear differential has also been modified. The car received a reinforced braking system with four pistons at the front and two at the rear. Optionally, the usual brake disks are changed to carbon-ceramic. Such brakes will have a golden coloring.
The chassis of the BMW M4 is capable of operating in three modes:
- Comfort;
- Sport;
- Sport+;
For the extreme driving enthusiast, there is a Launch Control option with Smokey Burnout. It adjusts the wheels for wheelspin, and when the throttle is applied strongly, smoke will billow from under the car wheels.
Options
The car comes in several configurations, depending on the type of gearbox installed. Pre-restyling versions of the F82 coupe could be purchased in the following variations:
- Powertrain of 3 liters, and a maximum output of 431 horsepower, rear-wheel drive, six-speed manual transmission. Auto with these parameters was produced from February 2014 to April 2017;
- Gasoline powertrain of 3 liters, and 431 horsepower, robotized transmission, rear-wheel drive. The car in this variation was produced from February 2014 to April 2017.
After the restyling, variations of the rear-wheel drive coupe went on sale, with a three-liter engine with an increased power of 450 horsepower. The car is equipped with a robotized transmission Competition.
As for other equipment, the car can optionally get 19-inch alloy wheels, with low-profile tires, LED head and rear optics, and M Driver’s Package, increasing the speed of the car from 250 to 280 kilometers per hour.
