The N43 series engines became a worthy replacement for the N42 family. The difference from the previous version is the installation of a fuel injection system, which increases the efficiency of combustion. Production began in 2007 and continued for four years. The engine has received great recognition and popularity in the car market. The peculiarity of the engine design of this series is the combination of high torque level with economical fuel consumption and environmental friendliness.

The N43B16 engine is a four-cylinder gasoline unit with a displacement of 1.6 liters with two overhead camshafts and 16 valves. The engine was based on the two-liter N43B20. The reduction in displacement to 1.6 liters was achieved by reducing the cylinder bore to 82 mm and installing a 75.7 mm short stroke crankshaft instead of the previous 90 mm.

The absence of the Valvetronic valve lift system results in higher fuel consumption, but the reliability of the vehicle is improved because it is devoid of additional components that could possibly break.

Disadvantages

As for possible engine malfunctions, its operation may be accompanied by vibrations caused by worn out injectors requiring replacement. Ignoring this fact leads to malfunctions of the motor and reduces its service life. As a rule, after every 50,000 km, a scheduled replacement of the vacuum pump and cooling system flange is required. It is also possible to notice floating revolutions, in this case it is necessary to pay attention to the state of the ignition coil. It is important to monitor the engine temperature, use the recommended oil and fuel for this car.

As a rule, it is impossible to find a decent tuning for the N43B16 engine, as the unit is oriented for quiet city driving. The only way out is to install a sport exhaust and intake, which will add no more than 15 horses, but the increase in power will be hardly noticeable.
