BMW X4 F26

The BMW X4 F26 made its debut in spring 2014 at the New York Auto Show. The compact crossover coupe (Sport Activity Coupe) is based on the X3 LCI SUV and is also the younger brother of the larger BMW X6.

The car attracts the attention of others. External and internal design is characterized by refined style, power, aggressiveness. Exterior

BMW X4 F26 looks like a coupe Grand Turismo. Nevertheless, the car has many attributes not available to the coupe body, in particular, high ground clearance, powerful wheel arches with 19-inch disks, radiator grille with chrome trim, large-sized bumpers.

The BMW X4 F26 is similar to the X3 in terms of dimensions, but the F26 has a more urban and showy design thanks to its coupe-like styling. The crossover measures 4671 mm in length, 1881 mm in width and 1624 mm in height. The size of wheelbase has not changed in comparison with X3 and remained 2810 mm. The high ground clearance of 20.4 cm is pleasant, but for domestic roads manufacturers have increased the clearance of BMW X4 F26 up to 21.2 cm. The crossover can easily overcome light off-road.

Vehicle weight varies from 1,805 to 1,935 kg depending on equipment. The aerodynamic drag coefficient is 0.33. The fuel tank capacity does not exceed 67 liters.

The hood of the BMW X4 F26 is elongated, and the front pillars are strongly sloped. The sloping roof of the crossover gradually passes to the rear part of the body, which shows the impetuousness of the car, and the rear pillars are extremely sloped. In general, the exclusive interior of the BMW X4 F26 indicates the sportiness of the model. It is quite roomy, designed for five people. However, compared to its predecessor, the seats are made in a more sporty style: the front seats have been lowered by 20 mm, the rear seats – by 28 mm.

In front, the driver and passenger will not feel discomfort, because there is enough space, but for the rear participants of the movement, especially in the head area will be uncomfortable, and knees will be a little upward. The problem will be especially acute for tall people. Engines

The BMW X4 F26 compact crossover comes with six powertrain options: three diesel and three gasoline.

The xDrive20i version is equipped with a four-cylinder engine with an output of 2.0 liters. The engine is available only with the xLine package. The maximum power of the turbocharged motor is 184 horsepower. The car is able to reach a speed of up to 212 km / h. Acceleration to a hundred is carried out in 8.1 seconds. The average fuel consumption is 6.8 liters of gasoline in the mixed cycle. To increase the power characteristics of BMW F26 it is enough to carry out standard chip tuning, bringing the power to 280 horses. The Stage 2 firmware will provide up to 300 horses.

Among the disadvantages of the xDrive20i powertrain is engine vibration, the cause of which lies in contamination of the injectors. In case of floating revolutions, it is necessary to clean the idle valve or the throttle valve. Increased fuel consumption indicates a faulty air flow meter.

Modification xDrive28i is also equipped with a four-cylinder two-liter engine, but with more power of 245 horses. The unit is able to start up to 100 km in 6.4 seconds with a top speed of 232 km/h. The inline unit spends 8.8 liters of gasoline in the city and 5.6 liters on the highway. After chip tuning BMW X4 F26 28i is able to produce more than 380 horses.

The xDrive35i version is equipped with a six-cylinder engine with a capacity of 3.0 liters. The car with this unit accelerates to a hundred in 5.5 seconds. BMW X4 F26 3.0 is able to squeeze out up to 306 horses at a top speed of 247 km/h. The n55 motor is equipped with a Twin Scroll turbocharger. Fuel consumption of the engine in the BMW X4 F26 xDrive35i modification is 8.2 liters in mixed mode. The filling volume of the n55 oil is 6.5 liters.

During operation, high oil consumption is one of the possible problems with the unit. The crankcase ventilation valve should be checked to prevent the problem. In case of ignition misses, it is worth checking the hydrocompensators and henceforth use high-quality oil. Engine vibrations can be the result of failure of injectors, the service life of which does not exceed 80,000 km.

The supercharged version of the BMW X4 F26 M40i is equipped with a powerful six-cylinder three-liter unit capable of producing up to 360 horsepower. The gasoline motor accelerates in 4.9 seconds at a top speed of 250 km/hour. The engine in the BMW X4 F26 M Perfomance version spends about 8.2 liters of fuel in the mixed cycle. The unit has two turbochargers and a BOSH MEVD 17.2 engine management system.

The most economical diesel unit is packaged in the xDrive20d version. The two-liter motor has the factory name B47 and is capable of producing up to 190 hp. Acceleration of the BMW X4 i F26 20d to 100 km is made in 8.0 seconds. The maximum speed of the four-cylinder unit does not exceed 212 km / h. Fuel consumption in mixed mode in this modification is 5.4 liters of diesel per 100 km of travel.

The xDrive30d version comes with a 3.0-liter six-cylinder turbodiesel. Test drive showed that the motor is able to squeeze out up to 258 horses at a maximum possible speed of 234 km / h. The engine accelerates to 100 km in 5.8 seconds. The average diesel consumption does not exceed 6.4 liters in city mode and 4.9 liters on the highway. Engine BMW X4 F26 30d is equipped with Common Rail injection system, turbocharger with intercooler, intake manifold with vortex flaps. Increase in power up to 300 horses can be achieved by regular chip tuning BMW X4 F26, and downpipe power parameters will increase up to 320 horses.

Among the most common problems with this diesel unit are clogged swirl flaps, which need cleaning. It is recommended to check the crankshaft damper in case of foreign noises and knocks. After about 200,000 km of mileage, the sound may appear in the rear of the motor, which indicates damage to the timing chain.

The xDrive35d is equipped with the same engine as the one described above, only with an increased power output of 313 horsepower. The engine accelerates to a hundred from the start in 5.2 seconds at a maximum possible speed of 247 km/h. Diesel consumption in mixed mode does not exceed 5.4 liters per 100 km of travel.

To extend the life of engines, it is necessary to carefully monitor the quality of gasoline, engine oil and timely replacement of consumables.

The units comply with the EURO 5,6 environmental standards. For BMW X4 F26 engines it is recommended to use engine oil of viscosity 5W30, 5W40.

Technical features

Almost all modifications are equipped with an eight-range automatic ZF. The only diesel unit in the xDrive20d version works in tandem with a six-speed manual transmission.

Suspension in the front of the crossover is double wishbone steel Mac Ferson, has traction bars of lightweight design. At the rear is installed five-lever steel and lightweight construction. The car only has an all-wheel drive xDrive system. The SUV has an energy-saving Efficient Dynamics option, including various electronic aides. The last function listed above allows the car to automatically recognize the key when the driver approaches the car. The basic modification of the BMW X4 F26 SUV includes many standard systems: ABS, TDC, DBC, CBC, Perfomance Control, there is HDC hill descent control, as well as dynamic stabilization DSC. The xLine, M Sport Package, and M Sport Package are available to create a personalized style for the BMW x4 f26 crossover.

In addition to the standard features, the xLine variant is equipped with elegant satin-finished aluminum elements.
